Job Description

Underwriting Performance * Support the Group Underwriting Performance Manager in reviewing underwriting performance across MS Amlin. This includes the oversight of the calculation, recording and reporting of key underwriting performance metrics including technical price, estimate loss cost, renewal rate movement, and aggregate exposure. * The role holder will be expected to attend, and provide challenge at, meetings with senior stakeholders across the business. * Design and produce monitoring reports as appropriate to help in the assessment of underwriting performance and ensure that such reports are produced accurately and regularly. * Design and produce reports identifying triggers/KPIs with regard to technical underwriting performance metrics which will aid the team in challenging class performance and data inconsistencies. Co-ordinate the Underwriting Performance Analyst to ensure that an accurate record of class performance meetings is maintained, and report to senior management accordingly. * Review technical pricing data and shape the assessment of class performance and areas of concern. * Help to respond to MS Amlin-wide queries and ad hoc requests from Legal Entity Boards, SBU Review Committees and MSI Head Office. Business Planning * Support the Underwriting Performance Manager in establishing a top down guidance process to give clarity to SBU's on expected results. * Assist in providing challenge to underwriting results at each stage of the business planning process. External Stakeholders * Support the Underwriting Performance Manager in the co-ordination of reports and returns to other external stakeholders such as the FCA and Lloyd's. 4. The Operating Environment and Context of the Job MS Amlin operates within highly regulated business environment which requires that the underwriting units are appropriately monitored and that consistent standards are met. MS Amlin intends that each SBU is capable of managing itself, in accordance with the agreed underwriting standards and philosophy and within a clear control framework, however that the Group Underwriting Management function sets the framework and ensures that it is being adhered to. This role therefore requires a pragmatic combination of both oversight and service and significant levels of communication and intelligent 'working together' to maximise effective underwriting management and assurance. 5. Key Competencies: * Excellent reinsurance and insurance knowledge with 5 plus years' experience in the (re)insurance industry. * Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Powerpoint * Extremely advanced knowledge of Excel would be a significant benefit. * Excellent mathematical and analytical skills * Strong interpersonal skills * Strong communication skills * Espouses MS Amlin Core Values 7. Key Interfaces The role will involve interaction within the Underwriting Management function, Underwriting Managers and underwriters within the SBU's. In addition it is important that there is good interaction and excellent communication with MS Amlin Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit and other functions as necessary.
