Pride In London

React Native Developer
Overview
Job Description
Mail We're looking for developers who want to set a new benchmark for Open Source volunteer projects. We need engineers who'd be excited by working on a beautiful, user friendly app that is secure and AA accessible. If that sounds like you, then please keep reading. In previous years we've worked with external agencies to build the bespoke Pride in London app, whilst the core volunteer team focus on our website. This year though, we want to bring our app in-house so that we can synchronise the design and build of products for both platforms. We've got big goals, and we're looking to create a white label app and website that any Pride can use worldwide to bring their community together. That's why we're looking for React Native Developers. We need your help to support our product development and build solutions that solve problems the community have. In this role you'll be: * Delivering a high quality React Native app using agile practices e.g. pair programming * Working to a regular release schedule to iterate and improve our app throughout the year * Developing and maintaining a component library across iOS and Android * Shaping the team's technical practices and the architecture of our platforms * Supporting and mentoring other team members What you get out of it: * To be part of delivering the app for the second largest event in London * To join a compassionate, driven team who treat you like family and emphasise open communication * The chance to mentor more junior team members, and receive mentoring from those with more experience than you * The opportunity to test your developer skills and (for more senior developers) the opportunity help drive important technical and architectural decisions * The opportunity to experiment with new tools and methodologies, and to work with a diverse team of Digital experts * For everyone, it's a chance to work on an application that will be visited by dozens of thousands of people Time commitment: Each week you'll usually spend between 4-8 hours on Pride work. This includes a mixture of catchups, meetings and actual work. Depending on the projects we have on the go some weeks will be busier than others, but we'll give plenty of notice of what's coming up. We don't count it as Pride time, but the Digital team are a pretty social team and get together when we can for fun too.
