The IT Business Partner role centres on achieving business and technology convergence. This is best described as a working relationship where IT and business units are intertwined, almost inseparable. Key Responsibilities Act as trusted technology partner for business leadership: * Build strong relationships, and represent Technology within Business Units and Vice Versa at Leadership, (SVP, VP and Director levels) * Understand and help to refine business strategy * Partners closely with business leadership and cross-functional business teams to scope and deliver technology programs that align to business growth and profitability objectives. * Provides Technology related advice and recommendations, based on expertise and experience, to address business needs and ensure effective delivery * Creates and owns compelling business cases * Negotiates on objective prioritization based on business imperatives, resource capacity, funding, etc. * Communicates hard messages by putting them into the right context or perspective. Culture and Communication * Promote delivery and good practice through communication - blogs, town halls, attendance at events (both internal and external) * Articulate complex technology challenges/opportunities in accessible terms to non technical audiences * Support the business to identify, manage and monitor business stakeholders who may affect, be affected by, or perceive themselves to be affected by decisions, activities and outcomes related to products and services * Clearly communicate ways of working between business units and technology; making the path for engagement and mutual accountability clear for all stakeholders Portfolio planning, governance, ways of working and value realisation * Partner with Portfolio Management teams to Identify opportunities to improve flow from portfolio planning, investment approval and delivery * Act as gateway for new demand from business to Technology delivery teams * Ensure delivery governance best practice is in place, and identify opportunities to improve * Hold technology teams to account for delivering commitments - identifying areas for improvement * Ensure that maximum benefit is gained from products and services supplied to achieve satisfaction for the customer and learner * Actively support delivery programmes and projects, developing and deploying solutions to market. * Establish functional operating and program budget, manage progress towards budgetary targets, and establish plans to meet savings objectives.
