Job Ref: CYP-20-009 Job type: Full-time 35 hours Closing date: Sunday 5th July 2020, 11:59pm Contract Type: Permanent Salary: 40,491 - 42,432 pa (SSW) The role The Fostering Service is currently looking for a Senior Social Worker. You will need to be an experienced, competent and committed Social worker with energy and drive who will work effectively to improve outcomes for our children and young people. To be successful the candidate should be child focused in approach and possess the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and the relevant others in a Looked After Child's life. The successful candidate must demonstrate good knowledge and understanding of Fostering and understanding of the range of issues faced by vulnerable children, their families and the challenges this brings for Social Workers and foster carers. We are committed to achieving stable placements with Lewisham Foster Carers for our children. The candidate must demonstrate a good knowledge of the relevant legislative framework: specifically Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011 & 2013 and the Fostering Services National Minimum Standards 2011, Care Planning, placement and Case Review Regulations 2010. The Senior Social Worker will also take on the role of Staying put coordinator. The candidate must demonstrate a good understanding of the stages of a young person's journey to adulthood and how staying put can support them with this. The Senior Social Worker will be the first point of contact when considering staying put arrangements including providing support and information to young people and foster carers about how staying put works in Lewisham. They will also lead on the development of staying put arrangements, including consultation with interested parties. Location Laurence House, Catford, London SE6 4RU What we're looking for * Registered Social Worker - Minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience.. * A well organised practitioner who is able to challenge constructively in order to achieve and retain outstanding standards at all times. * Excellent communication skills and ability to demonstrate effective partnership working with a variety of stakeholders. * Strong knowledge of Fostering and of the relevant Child Care Legislation and of safeguarding practice.
