Job Description

The Clinical Haematology Department at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust welcome applications for Clinical Research Fellows, with the opportunity to gain sub-specialist expertise and research experience in any one of a number of opportunities in CML/MPD, AML, haemostasis and thrombosis, immune haematology, lymphoma, myeloma or the role of therapeutic immunomodulation in COVID-19 disease. Successful applicants could have up to 3 years of protected full-time clinical research, undertaking studies leading to a Masters, MD or PhD at Imperial College London. This is an excellent opportunity to undertake clinical or laboratory research without the need to apply for external funding, and salary (up to, but not including NHS consultant level) and consumable costs are covered, as well as course fees for home students. During their period of research, the successful candidate will also undertake clinical duties for the NHS Trust, joining our other trainees in providing 3-4 on-call shifts overnight each month at SpR level in haematology. Experience equivalent to or higher than, ST4 level in haematology will be essential to provide this commitment The Clinical Haematology Unit at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust comprises a large practice covering the whole range of blood diseases, including malignancies, stem cell transplantation, haemoglobinopathies, laboratory haematology and transfusion medicine and haemostasis-thrombosis. There are 58 inpatient beds over three wards, and a dedicated haematology triage unit to accept emergencies out-of-hours. Projects may be basic science, translational medicine or clinical haematology, and collaborations across Imperial College and with other institutions will be encouraged. These posts will be offered for appointments of one, two or three years, dependent upon the successful candidates proposed academic degrees; those working for two or three years will be expected to register for a higher degree (MD, PhD) and those working for one year will be encouraged to register for a Master's programme.
