The Jenny Lind Children's Hospital within the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital provides a full range of acute clinical services for children and young people, including more specialist services such as Endocrinology, Oncology, Orthopaedics, Plastic Surgery, Gastroenterology, Ophthalmology, Rheumatology, Paediatric Medicine and Paediatric Surgery. Incorporating inpatient and ambulatory care the department provides family centered care to children and young people from Norfolk and the Eastern Region including the provision of High Dependency Care. With our recently approved aspirational Children's Strategy and being one of the largest Children's units in the Eastern Region we are continually seeking to improve and expand our existing services. Included in the children's strategy is a commitment to support the development of clinical nurse specialist posts to further enhance the speciality teams and the care delivered to patients. The Paediatric Surgical and gastroenterology team are expanding their portfolio of specialist nurses and are looking to recruit a surgical nurse specialist to join their team and support the complex gastrointestinal patients. Everyone who works here plays an important role in our journey to outstanding. When you work for us you will be part of a dedicated team whose priority is to make our patients and their families hospital journey a positive and rewarding experience. To provide a comprehensive service to children and young people within the specialist area of paediatric surgery. The post holder will work closely with the surgeons and the surgical units and will be required to provide support, education, and care for babies and children with complex gastrointestinal problems, with an emphasis on lower gastrointestinal conditions. As part of the specialist MDT the post holder will provide direct patient care and support to patients and their families and help improve quality of life by educating the patient and family on the management and control of symptoms and offering support following diagnosis. The post holder will be a resource for other health professionals and will develop, implement and evaluate care packages for this specialist group of patients. Some weekend clinic work may be required to support additional clinics.
