Lecturer in Applied Languages 35,845 rising annually to 39,152 pro rata Part Time, Permanent - Academic This is a part time, permanent 0.6 fte position. The Department of English and Modern Languages at Oxford Brookes University seeks to appoint a new part time (0.6fte) member of staff in Applied Languages. The successful candidate will be a qualified and experienced Higher Education teacher, who will contribute to the development of its existing languages programmes, and the Department's research culture. The candidate will be supported in the delivery of innovative, attractive areas of teaching, in the writing of original publications, and in applications for external funding. Oxford Brookes University is one of the UK's leading modern universities and is currently undergoing a multi-million pound campus redevelopment programme. Its research-intensive Department of English and Modern Languages has a growing and substantial international reputation in many areas. Alongside Applied Languages, it teaches degree programmes in Japanese, Creative Writing and English Literature, and supports a wide variety of PhD students and postdoctoral research. You will be responsible for: * delivering Applied Languages courses * administering undergraduate teaching, including the placement year * contributing to the development of languages programmes * publishing of high-quality research and pursuing research funding. You should have: * good honours degree in modern languages, or closely-related discipline * PhD in modern languages, or closely-related discipline * publication record commensurate with the stage of your career * excellent team working and communication skills * experience of teaching French language, translation studies and at least one of: Spanish; German; TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) As one of the largest employers in Oxford we pride ourselves in the great experience we offer our staff.
