Job Description
Are you looking to work flexibly, in a varied role where you can make a real difference helping homeless people to rebuild their lives? If so, you may be interested in joining our locum bank. We are looking for individuals to play a key role in supporting the delivery of our services. St Mungo's is at the forefront of supporting individuals experiencing, or who have experienced, homelessness. Our work is more crucial now than ever before as we support our clients throughout the covid-19 pandemic and ensure that no one who has been housed during this time returns to homelessness. About the role As a Locum Worker you can work flexibly, on an ad hoc or temporary basis. In joining the Locum bank you will be able to link yourself to services where you would like to pick up shifts and take on the number of shifts that fit your individual circumstances. In order to provide you with ongoing support you will be allocated a supervising manager and you will have access to mandatory training to ensure you have the tools to keep our clients safe. We offer enhanced pay for bank holidays and you can also accrue holiday pay. We are looking for people to join our Thurrock locum bank where you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our services in the area. Our services in Thurrock consist of two homeless hostels located in the heart of Grays, a floating support service, an outreach service and a housing first service based out of Charles Street hostel. We support both young people (16-21) and adults to develop independent living skills and skills to support resettlement back in to the community after a period of homelessness. Your role could include assessing the needs of individual rough sleepers on the streets, key working clients, supporting the day-to-day running of hostels, carrying out health and safety checks and working with external agencies. What we're looking for These important roles will suit people with: * Experience of helping vulnerable people to identify personal goals and supporting them through a process of change * An understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerable people and the difficulties they experience in accessing services. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people and deal with those who may be in a difficult personal or emotional situation. Above all, we are looking for inspirational, committed individuals who have a genuine desire to support people to rebuild their lives. As a homelessness charity and housing association, our clients are at the heart of what we do, and in 2019 we supported nearly 30,000 people who were either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
