Lecturer in Photography (Critical Studies Specialism) 35,845 rising annually to 39,152, pro rata Part Time, Permanent - Academic We are looking to appoint a part-time (0.5fte) Lecturer in Photography to contribute primarily to the theory-based modules on our BA in Photography. The successful applicant will hold a PhD in Photography, or a related area, and will have experience of teaching at undergraduate level. The successful candidate will be a confident and inspiring teacher, with the desire and willingness to contribute to the cultural environment of the School of Arts, and the ability to help increase its industry networks and exposure. They will have a research profile commensurate with their stage of career, and proven ability to produce quality outputs to submit to future REF cycles. Also essential is a commitment to Widening Participation, and the ability to create a diverse curriculum. The successful candidate will have a significant role in developing the Photography degree programme, which has been created with an informed understanding of where photography is today and how it is evolving in the 21st century. The teaching focuses on photography as a profession and a visual language appropriate for the creative industries. It aims to develop students creative practice, independent voice and personal identity as a photographer within a professional context. There will also be opportunities to teach across other Art & Design programmes in the School of Arts, and you will help to lead collaborative projects between these programmes. You will be joining a rich and diverse research culture, and will become a member of CoRA (Centre of Arts Research), the School of Art's new cultural research centre launching in September 2020.
