Job Description
We're looking for a motivated and creative leader to help Growth Street develop existing and new business intelligence capabilities and play a genuinely impactful part in making a positive difference to our customers. You'll enjoy this role if you like the opportunities and challenges of working in a growing business, and building adaptable and performant systems using widely accepted best practices. Part of our strategy is to achieve a data-driven working culture and you will have an important role in its development. You will collaborate daily with engineering, product, credit and commercial colleagues and help to build an effective and creative organisation. About us At Growth Street, were passionate about understanding growing businesses and helping them succeed. We're using technology to modernise the business loans sector. We offer an innovative product that matches a wide range of investors funds with the working capital needs of ambitious businesses. Our marketplace offers borrowers lines of credit from 25k up to currently 1m. Our product is similar to a traditional bank overdraft but gives customers a smoother, faster, and more flexible experience. Growth Street was founded in 2015 and we're a growing company of 41 employees. We have 16 people working in Technology, drawing on experience from companies that include Dice, GoCardless, Lovefilm, BBC, Rackspace, Sainsbury's, Reuters, Bloomberg, JP Morgan and Amazon. You can find more about what its like to be an engineer at Growth Street at Requirements Your key responsibilities You will be a great hire if you can have an impact for the business by: * Supporting business growth and operational effectiveness by owning and developing insightful BI reporting, dashboards and tools using cloud based services - for example, we are currently using Looker, dbt and others. * Using your expertise and influence to improve the degree of value BI team output achieves. * Coaching less experienced team members to make good use of data. * Contribute to the hiring and onboarding of new colleagues. * Contributing to the development of the medium to long term BI strategy. * Defining the short to medium term BI team priorities in line with business objectives. * Designing, implementing and delivering data tooling and analysis to meet those priorities. * Leading and contributing to the evolution of a scalable data infrastructure. Your qualifications, skills and motivations If you can answer "yes" to most of these questions you'd be a great fit. Do you: * Enjoy working constructively collaboratively and pragmatically in a team-oriented organisation? * Communicate clearly and concisely most of the time? * Have sustained professional experience of using cloud hosted data modelling tools such as dbt, Looker and Segment. * Have strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases and data modelling? * Have intermediate, hands-on experience of programming in Python? * Have professional working knowledge of data warehousing architectures and a mainstream cloud hosted product such as Redshift or Snowflake? * Have sustained professional experience delivering BI requirements in a commercial context? * Have experience of working with non-technical business stakeholders successfully? Financial experience is an advantage but not a must-have? * Have a degree in maths, computing, economics or core science subject, or demonstrable equivalent experience?
