Job Description
We welcome applications from qualified radiographers, and student radiographers due to qualify in spring or summer 2020, who have an interest in working with us and have acquired recent plain film clinical experience within the NHS. Over the next 2 years we have a 485 million investment to redevelop the Royal Sussex County Hospital site in Brighton and this will include a new state of the art Imaging Department. Our band 5 posts are rotational between the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton (RSCH) and Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath (PRH) including 24 hour cover at RSCH. Our department has held The Quality Standard for Imaging (formerly ISAS accreditation) since 2014 demonstrating our position as an excellent centre for imaging services. Brighton is a vibrant city by the sea and the nearby town of Haywards Heath has easy access to the South Downs National Park. Both are within one hour of London by train. The Trust provides treatment to over three quarters of a million patients each year working across sites in Brighton and Haywards Heath. These are The Royal Sussex County Hospital including the onsite Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital (RACH) in Brighton and the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. The Trust's specialised and tertiary services include arterial vascular surgery, neonatal, paediatrics, cardiac, cancer, renal, infectious diseases and HIV medicine. RSCH is the major trauma centre for Sussex and the South East Regional Neurosciences Unit undertakes neurology and elective spinal work at PRH and intra cranial, acute spine and neuro vascular work at RSCH in Brighton. The Department of Imaging provides services on both of these sites and in addition to this we provide a service at Hove Polyclinic. As a Band 5 radiographer with us you will have the opportunity to develop your A&E experience in our busy 3 room A&E X-ray Department providing a 24 hour service for trauma and emergency work at RSCH. This will include participating in our 24 hour cover including weekend and night duties on this site. You will also gain experience in mobile and theatre work, general radiography, fluoroscopy and paediatric radiography rotating through our general departments at RSCH and Hove Polyclinic, our paediatric department at RACH and the Princess Royal Hospital in Hayward's Heath. Experience gained on the Princess Royal site in Haywards Heath will include Plain Film radiography with referrals from Accident and Emergency, GP's, Out-Patients including dental radiography and In-Patients. You will also gain experience in fluoroscopy work, mobiles and theatres. Theatre workload on this site includes urology, fracture neck of femur pathway, spinal surgery including joint injections and further orthopaedic work at the Sussex Orthopaedic Treatment Centre base onsite. Applicants must have current HCPC registration (students will be expected to have successfully registered with the HCPC on qualification and before beginning employment) and have recent clinical experience in an NHS environment. In return for your commitment to us we will provide ongoing support for your professional development, as well as a friendly, challenging and stimulating work environment. Our Trust is rated as 'Outstanding for Caring' by the CQC - fundamental to this is the way that we value and respect our staff. At every level, we value the diversity of our colleagues and actively champion an inclusive culture.
