Older Peoples Medicine (OPM) has been revolutionised at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH), come and join us and be part of something ground breaking. An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Older Persons Medicine Team. We are looking to recruit a Deputy Sister/ Charge Nurse on Brundall ward to help us deliver the gold standard of care our patients come to expect from us. Brundall Ward forms a vital part of our extensive Older Peoples Medicine network within NNUH. Brundall is a 36 bedded ward specialising in patients with complex health needs and infectious diseases. Our OPM team have excellent experience managing a variety of medical diseases and supporting patients through their journey to their discharge destination, working closely with the multi-disciplinary team. We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Registered Nurse to join our team. Older Peoples Medicine is an innovative and dynamic speciality supported by a suite of innovative and forward thinking services. We care for around 200 inpatients at any time across the services and our award winning teams provide compassionate, person-centred care for older people in hospital, working closely alongside multidisciplinary colleagues. Our teams love the diagnostic challenge of working with older patients with complex needs and the benefit of sharing skills with clinical colleagues from other specialities. On our OPM wards you'll have the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of the needs of older people, build experience of the wider healthcare system and take advantage of a variety of professional development opportunities. There's a variety of exciting projects to get involved in as we further enhance our services for the future. We're developing our frailty pathways, building on our Dementia Friends programme and investigating new ways of providing the best care for our patients through dedicated rapid assessment clinics. We're also a major teaching and research hospital and are passionate about developing nursing educational pathways across the department. As post holder, duties will include : * Prioritise a rapidly changing workload and have the flexibility to work within a team * Taking charge of the clinical area in the absence of the Ward/Department Sister/ Charge Nurse * Coordinating and monitoring the progress of patients within their plan of care and to promptly and effectively communicate relevant changes in patient status to the multi-disciplinary team * Being competent in taking the lead role during emergency situations and providing support to other members of the team * Minimising hazards in the working area and report any identifiable hazards to the line manager * Working with all members of the Ward/Department clinical team within the multi-disciplinary framework * Maintaining a high standard of patient care under the direction of the Ward/Department Sister/Charge Nurse * Working in accordance with the principles laid down by the Nursing/Midwifery professional bodies and Trust Policies and leading a clinical area Why NNUH?
