Overview

Job Description

In this role, you'll play a critical part in helping us to bring our new insurance technology product to market. You will work with our diverse team of scientists, mathematicians, and software engineers, and the executive team. Together, we will use the unprecedented insights we generate from our machine learning technology and the world's largest dataset of its kind, to help our joint venture partner underwrite and price a new category of insurance product in the construction industry. By doing this, you will play a massive role in reshaping the way risk and uncertainty is managed on major projects around the world. The majority of large-scale construction projects are critically delayed, which comes with a huge financial cost: approx. $2T globally in lost productivity every year. So why do these critical delays consistently occur? Put simply, it is incredibly difficult to correctly estimate the duration of future activities. At nPlan, we're learning how the world was built and we're actively using that knowledge to help current and future projects to be delivered on time. We're fundamentally rewiring how the construction industry operates and our customers (contractors, developers, governments, insurers, and banks) are incredibly excited about what the world will look like, thanks to our technology. You'll be joining a world class team, backed by top investors from the US and UK that all believe in the future we can enable. We won the hottest Proptech startup at the Europas in 2019, Forbes think we are 1 of 10 machine learning companies to look out for and we recently picked up the best early stage company award at TechCrunch Disrupt. What we need you to do: * Develop a go-to-market strategy for our new data product. Use your knowledge of the insurance market and other resources at your disposal to build a plan for everything from which customers to go after and how, the optimal marketing mix, and how to acquire customers * Undertake secondary research and primary user interviews with our customers, partners, adviser and others to test the hypothesis you develop in the go-to-market strategy * Lead on the relationship with our JV partner, a global insurer, and other partners that are critical to the success of our product * Deliver on this strategy by representing nPlan in a sales capacity with our clients and those of our JV partner. This will include building awareness for nPlan in the project insurance market, keeping abreast of upcoming major projects around the world, understanding the nPlan value proposition and pitching to prospective clients, and supporting our JV partner to explain the value of nPlan What you bring to nPlan: * You have worked in the insurance industry directly or as a consultant, and have taken a new product to market * You have experience in business development, enterprise sales, or in a partnerships role * You have an ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders, from actuaries to executives * You have strong communication, negotiating, and influencing skills * You have strong quantitative skills, with an understanding of statistics * You have an eye for details. If you've read this far, mention the word "crane" in your application :-) * You're excited about the impact of what we're building: your energy, determination and drive inspire others to push for ambitious targets It's not necessary, but it would be great if: * You've got at least 3 years of experience in a financial deal environment * You have been involved in secondary finance deals with insurance syndicates, insurers, and reinsurers * You understand how major capital projects are financed and insured today
