Overview Position: Senior Health Economist Contract: Permanent Salary: 51,818 to 59,590 per annum Start date: ASAP BMJ-Technology Assessment Group The BMJ-Technology Assessment Group (BMJ-TAG) is a Centre of Excellence for Health Technology Assessment (HTA); commissioned by the Department of Health National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). The BMJ-TAG investigates the value of existing and emerging health technologies to the UK National Health Service (NHS) through de novo scientific research. As a Centre of Excellence, the BMJ-TAG is responsible for providing an independent critique of industry submissions to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as part of the technology appraisal programme. Responsibilities The role of the Senior Health Economist will be to deliver timely and high-quality economic evaluations to meet customer requirements. * You will be responsible for leading projects and communicating methods and outcomes to key stakeholders. * Experience of the methods and requirements of HTA and experience in the development of economic evaluations (cost-effectiveness modelling, budget impact, etc) are essential. * You will have an ability to manage, interrogate and manipulate quantitative data as well as advanced computing skills. * Strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to work efficiently and collaboratively and project management skills are essential. * Experience of working within public health or social care would be an advantage. Qualifications * Essential: post-graduate qualification in health economic evaluation or related mathematical/statistical discipline (e.g. MSc in Economic Evaluation in Healthcare or Health economics) * Desirable: undergraduate degree in mathematics, statistics or economics.
