Learning Mentor required for a an East London school to start in September 2019 for a 1 year contract. ** Learning Mentor within specialist pastoral unit ** Remove barriers to learning **Learning Mentor for vulnerable 11-16 year olds **Action planning and assessments ** 1:1 Pastoral Officer Great opportunity for experienced or aspiring Learning Mentor to start in September at a vibrant East London secondary school. This post would suit a graduate who is looking to gain some experience in schools with a view to perhaps going on to become an educational psychologist, counseller, social worker or a secondary school teacher in the future. It will also suit an experienced teaching assistant or learning mentor who is particularly strong at giving pastoral support to vulnerable young people. The successful Learning Mentor will be working in the specialist Pastoral team giving emotional support to 11-16 year olds who are struggling in the mainstream environment. Students could be attending the unit for a variety of reasons including self-harm, bereavement, emotional problems or being disruptive in class. You will benefit from a dynamic and hard-working staff team that really enjoy the work they do. Ideally applicants for this Learning Mentor role should be empathetic individuals with previous experience working with vulnerable 11-16 year olds whether this be in a school or similar environment. You should be a confident individual with the ability to take on a case load doing 1:1 intervention, assessments and action plans.
