Responsibilities As the Senior Linux Platform engineer in the BidFX Infrastructure Team, you will be responsible for managing and engineering BidFX's global CentOS Linux platform estate in both its private and public cloud environments. Our globally distributed, high-available, cloud-hosted SAAS platform processes 5 billion messages per day. Some of our platforms already run on the Google Cloud Platform and we have aspiration to diversify into alternative cloud providers including AWS. You will have the opportunity to shape the future direction of the platform infrastructure in a fast growing fintech. You will be responsible for the hosted server architecture and systems administration, which is currently CentOS running on Dell hardware. Once you have understood and reviewed the existing server architecture and production footprint, you will work closely with existing platform architect and engineers at BidFX's parent company to architect, develop, implement and support a separation strategy for BidFX's server infrastructure from its parent company before taking full ownership. In parallel, you will devise and oversee the continuation of BidFX's secure and robust transition of its platform infrastructure into the public cloud, driving BidFX's server architecture forwards with a bias for innovation. You will strive for efficient deployment and standard configuration management through automation in both the private and public cloud footprints, providing some DevOps overlap with the BidFX's Development Team where required. You will interface with all levels of the business and have a global responsibility (UK, US, Asia). You will be able to troubleshoot issues, handle incident escalations (sometimes out-of-hours) while promoting production change management processes and procedures. Qualifications You will be educated to a Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM subject. You will have at least 5 years' experience in a UNIX Platform role working with hosted platform and, perhaps more recently, modern cloud technology. You will be enthusiastic, organised and adaptable; a quick learner, who is able to adopt new technology with ease. Naturally, you will have good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to integrate seamlessly with other IT professionals including application programmers, network engineers, security specialists and DBAs. You must have recent experience of: * System administration of RedHat Linux / CentOS / variants of * Server hardware architecture * VMware, KVM or oVirt * Managing hosts via a framework using technologies such as Satellite, Foreman, Puppet, Chef and Ansible * Disk interfaces, NFS, iSCSI * Volume management and RAID * DNS, Mail * PTP * Server backups * Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or AWS compute services * Scripting languages - Python and Bash *
