Job Description

NHS Fife's Department of Spiritual Care has built a reputation for developing innovative and creative models for the development and delivery of spiritual care. We are seeking to appoint a Registered Healthcare Chaplain, who whilst based within the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, shall work across multiple sites within Fife. Healthcare Chaplains work in a busy, and at times challenging environment; managing multiple priorities, both planned and unexpected. You will be expected to specialise, but not limited to, acute medicine (inc critical care), end of life care and staff support. You will have a good understanding of the spiritual needs of those of different belief communities and those who have no faith. You will be required to display excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to reflect on their practice. You should be qualified to degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant subject. In addition you should have, or be working towards, specialist training in healthcare chaplaincy such as a Post-Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Chaplaincy. You will be required to evidence experience of delivering spiritual care within health and social care settings including knowledge and understanding of recent developments in spiritual care within NHS Scotland. Good IT skills and the ability to drive are essential. You will be expected to register with the UK Board of Healthcare Chaplains. You will participate in an on-call / out of hour's rota (currently 1:4).
