Student Health Visitor post Location : Within the Health visiting Teams in Lewisham. Full Time - Fixed term one year A training opportunity to qualify as a registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor) is now open to all qualified Nurses and Midwives; funding made available from Health Education England. This is an exciting time to be considering a career in Health Visiting with Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust. Lewisham & Greenwich NHS trust provides an excellent learning environment for students, supported by practice teachers with the vast majority of our successful students taking up post with us upon qualifying. Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust provides additional bespoke training to our permanent staff such as attachment assessment, millpond sleep training, freedom programme, Unicef breast feeding training, MECSH training and perinatal mental health training which is available to all health visitor students. Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust health visiting service is known for its excellent support and supervision; 1:1 supervision, safeguarding supervision and newly qualified preceptorship ( group and peer supervision) which prepares students for the realities of practice. We are inviting qualified nurses and midwives to apply for this sponsored training with Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust at either LSBU or Greenwich University to complete their BSc (level 6/7) in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing and qualify as a Health Visitor. The course commences in September 2020 - September 2021 at LSBU and in January 2021 - January 2022 at Greenwich University . As a student you will work under the direction of a Community Practice Teacher. You will be involved in public health promotion: - assessing, planning and providing packages of care to individuals and groups. Applicants must have 240 credits (at least 120 at level 5) to complete BSc. The post is subject to Occupational Health clearance and an enhanced DBS check. Numeracy and literacy assessment Candidates applying for sponsorship will be required to complete an in-house assessment (numeracy and literacy assessment). Successful applicants will be provided with a date to attend for this, which may be after the interview date. If you are successfully shortlisted, interviews will take place on Tues 23.06.20 or Thurs 25.06.20.
