DEPARTMENT and JOB OVERVIEW An excellent opportunity has become available due to internal promotion, to join the Energy & Transportation IT (E&T IT) team based in Peterborough reporting to an IT Manager. The role is to assist Caterpillar's Industrial Power Systems Division by acting as the applications support lead for the manufacturing environment for off road power units across several sites in the Global Enterprise. As the Applications Technical Lead, you will have overall accountability for a team of support analysts responding to several complex incidents and issues whilst also achieving Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) targets so a passion for technology is a must. Strong technical skills with a foundation of ITSM practices balanced with a level of Business Relationship Management (BRM) are key to this role as you will also liaise with senior customers on frequent basis. The role will require you to participate in a on call rotation for an out of hours support rota. Job Responsibilities and Duties: Leading a support team and engaging with our customers globally in China, India, UK, North America and Brazil on support activities. Supporting Caterpillar in key metrics such as Customer Ship Date (CSD) for power units by taking responsibility for providing trend analysis of recurring or persistent incidents using ITSM best practices. Work to MTTR targets for yourself and your team whilst managing the expectations of the customer across all global sites to support key Caterpillar business metrics such as CSD. Liaise and effectively communicate with other IT teams to resolve incidents directly affecting your global customer base. Actively participate in Operational Reviews with the IT Leadership Team providing updates on MTTR, Proactive call reduction and other initiatives deemed relevant to the success of your team. Creation and maintenance of support documentation around incident resolution and fixes in the corporate ITSM tool. Day to day management of the locally based support team. Lead pro-active initiatives to achieve operational excellence for your global customers. Skills and Experience: Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles: Strong knowledge of fault finding in PL\SQL in relationship to Oracle databases with extensive expertise with stored procedure and function development, packages and triggers Active user of IT Service Management (ITSM) preferably ServiceNow Ability to troubleshoot application issues using Linux OS command line utilities. Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical groups. Able to empower and motivate teams based both locally and remotely. Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles: Experience of high-volume manufacturing environments. Demonstrated ability of creating and growing excellent Business Relationships Different programming languages, such as: Python, Perl scripting & VB Experience of products such as: OS server and client including other Microsoft products Experience of Thin Clients and Citrix environments Experience of managing a team.
