The Role The purpose of this Data Architect role is to create and deliver optimum solutions meeting the needs of our client's businesses. To engage throughout the whole project lifecycle from understanding the business case and requirements, modelling data, and transitioning into business as usual. It is the responsibility of the Data Architect to coordinate activities with team members to define the most effective solution to the client problems while also leveraging their knowledge of existing systems and services as well as the capabilities available in the marketplace. The central responsibility of the Data Architect role is to develop, optimise and oversee conceptual and logical data systems. To succeed in this role, you should know how to examine new data system requirements and implement data models. The ideal candidate will also have proven experience in data analysis, modelling, and governance, with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Key Responsibilities * Stakeholder management : Interact with a range of people, from highly technical software developers to Senior Executive stakeholders. This means the ability to change style/approach is essential. * Ownership : Take ownership of the overall architecture strategy/design for a complex program of work and communicate it to all members of a project team. Technical, architectural, functional and impact and risk elements of the design need to be conveyed to technical and non-technical members. * Analysis and Review : Determine database structural requirements by analysing client operations, applications, and programming; reviewing objectives with stakeholders; evaluating current systems. * Development : Develop database solutions by designing proposed system; defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, security, back-up, and recovery specifications. * Governance : Assess database implementation procedures to ensure they comply with internal and external regulations. * Monitoring and reporting : Advise on and prepare accurate database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams. Monitor the system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting and integrating new features. Requirements Need to have * Expertise in at least 4 of the 6 responsibilities above * Expertise in using modern data tools (e.g. SQL, Python...) * At least 6 years of data and/or consulting experience * A passion for building high quality products which drive real change for businesses * A results-oriented mindset with a strong eye for detail * Comfort with some travel to clients * Right to work in the UK (we can't currently sponsor visas) Nice to have * Training or degree in a STEM subject * Experience managing teams of data architects, engineers or BI engineers * Experience building effective CI/CD tools and processes * Experience of effective data architecture and modelling techniques (e.g. kimball modelling) * Experience with Azure/AWS/Snowflake/Spark * Experience working with an engineering mindset (e.g. Agile development, Git, Jira...) * Experience building applications with languages such as C# Benefits * Exposure to a genuinely exciting range of clients, all of whom are trying to solve large problems * High impact in your role - many of our team can claim credit for driving large changes and saving millions for their clients * Training and exposure to best in class ways of working - we want to set the gold standard for how companies use data * Small, friendly and highly-talented team, with limited bureaucracy and hierarchy * Excellent remuneration A great company reflects the wonderful diversity of the world in which we live.
