Our Power & Cooling Engineers are at the heart of keeping BT's networks operating 24/7 365 days a year. Utilising their expertise and knowledge in both Low and High Voltage systems, alarms, emergency lighting, cooling and UPS they ensure that the BT estate continues to work no matter the circumstances. Working with their experienced teams within our exchange buildings as well as other environments, including radio sites, rooftops and outdoors, they are required to support the variety of power systems and cooling equipment that ensures our networks keeping U.Ks internet working. Vital in supporting us in meeting strict SLAs they utilise their variety of skills, taking ownership of their patches and coaching those around them. What you'll be doing As part of the role you will be required to contribute to an "on-call" by supporting voluntary lists and, if required Formal On Call Frameworks (with a minimum 1 in 4 attendance) to support service as needed by the business. The variation of attendance (including movement to an "on-call" framework is at your first- and second-line manager's discretion to support service. Due to the nature of the role and our industry this list is not exhaustive however covers the primarily accountabilities of the role: Engineering Services Accountabilities: Prioritise H&S - To have regard for health and safety, his/her job license and skills as agreed with line manager. Delivers work with full regard of H&S aspects. Carries out on-site risk assessments giving careful consideration to any hazards before starting work and as the work progresses. Inform manager and record near misses/incidents. Is comfortable challenging and asking others to display their ID passes when on BT premises. Complies with all ISO Audit Requirements, including 14001 and 45001. Excellently supports and works with ES teams to deliver, making our unit an amazing workplace for everyone; Role Accountabilities: Execute Work with Autonomy - Execute all required work (allocated and self-identified), considering H&S, despite the challenges and environment. Works proactively with Patch Managers and the wider team to work effectively and understand the priorities of the wider team / unit. Actively supports a team of technicians and engineers where required to prioritises and complete work, entering accurate codes and quality notes on appropriate systems (e.g. Eng.com, inventory systems), that are meaningful, and which can be used onward by colleagues and customers. Low Voltage Power Expertise - Utilising their expertise and knowledge in low power systems they repair, install and maintain low power circuits including lighting, transformers, UPS etc., completing all work as allocated to support the assigned operational area and others as required using their qualifications in Power Systems. Works with the wider team to support area, regional and unit objectives. Cooling & Refrigeration Expertise - Utilising their expertise and knowledge in cooling & refrigeration systems they install, maintain and repair chilling equipment including Adiabatic and F-Gas systems. They complete all work as allocated to support the assigned operational area and others as required using their qualifications in refrigeration systems. Works with the wider team to support area, regional and unit objectives. High Voltage Power Systems - Qualified and suitably experienced in High Voltage systems they undertake clerk of works activities alongside maintenance and repair work on BT HV equipment.
