Paediatric Phlebotomist - Paediatric Haematology Oncology
Overview
Job Description
The main job purpose is to provide a phlebotomy service for paediatric patients within the Schiehallion (haematology/oncology) unit within the Royal Hospital for Children of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. You will be part of a team responsible for the delivery of the Phlebotomy Service to the inpatient ward and daycare unit ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of blood specimens to the laboratories. You will collect blood samples from appropriate patients by capillary sample or accessing peripheral or central venous access devices on request from medical staff and Senior Nursing Staff. You will ensure protocols and policies are adhered to in the process of taking a blood sample from a patient. You should have a good standard of education or have equivalent level of experience. Training in phlebotomy skills will be given. The shift pattern is Monday to Sunday - 16 hours per week - covering 4 days. Informal Contact: Gillian Paton, Clinical Nurse Educator on 0141 451 5748.
