Post: Speciality dentist in Paediatric Dentistry (10 sessions) base: glasgow denTal hospital & SCHOOL, with sessions at the Royal hospital for children Applications are invited for the post of Speciality Dentist in Paediatric Dentistry based at Glasgow Dental Hospital & School, the largest provider of oral healthcare in Scotland. The post holder will join one of the busiest Paediatric Dental departments in the UK. Opportunities exist for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, quality improvement and participation in research. The department has close links with other acute medical and surgical specialities in the Royal Hospital for Children and the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital OMFS Team Applicants must have full GDC registration. A dentist appointed to this grade: • shall have completed four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) since first obtaining registration, including adequate experience in the relevant specialty; or • shall have equivalent experience and competencies. It is desirable, but not essential that applicants are on the GDC Specialist List for Paediatric Dentistry. Applicants must have experience of Paediatric Dental service provision in an NHS hospital or for applicants from overseas, have the ability to demonstrate a full understanding of the provision of a Paediatric Dental service within a UK context. The primary focus of this position will be to provide specialist level care for paediatric outpatients utilising a wide variety of behaviour management techniques to minimise the reliance on general anaesthesia. Supporting the consultant team with GA provision, referral management and service development will also be required.
