Consultant Clinical Psychologist - Clinical Lead

Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust ,
Sedgefield, Durham

Overview

Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and motivated Consultant Psychologist to join the CAMHS Autism Assessment Team in County Durham and Darlington as the Clinical Lead. Over the past two years the team has worked hard to develop a new, effective and often ground breaking pathway which has seen the waiting list times for children's autism assessments fall significantly. The multi-disciplinary team has had consistent positive feedback from families since making the changes and it continues to be innovative in service improvement. This is an exciting time for the service as we are now looking to build on this success and to develop a wider neuro developmental pathway across the locality - the Clinical Lead will be pivotal in this development. This post is part of the leadership team for the current autism assessment team and, eventually, the wider neurodevelopmental service and will offer the post holder the opportunity to use both their clinical and leadership skills, offering input into the strategic direction of CYPS neurodevelopmental assessment in the locality. You will be expected to have the necessary skills and experience to undertake direct complex clinical assessment work across a range of neurodevelopmental presentations, consult on highly complex cases, offer multi-disciplinary supervision, lead on service evaluation as well as manage the demands of service development and change. The post requires a high degree of professional autonomy and critical judgement as well as the provision of highly effective clinical leadership to the service. The post holder will be expected to make links across the locality both within the Trust and with external agencies creating a climate of high expectations and collective commitment to delivering high quality, accessible neurodevelopmental assessments for children in the Co Durham and Darlington area. Applied Psychology is highly valued within the Trust with good professional support. Strong links exist between the service and the local doctoral training course. Psychologists provide key leadership roles within the Trust. To support this we have developed leadership profiles for each psychology band and the profile card associated with this post is attached on NHS Jobs. You can find more information about the NHS Leadership Academy's Healthcare Leadership Model and the profiles at their website. We encourage you to look at these resources as they will play a part in the interview process. The Trust is a strongly value based, person centred organisation which has taken a strategic approach to continued service improvement, the modernisation of clinical roles and the use of care pathways embedded within a functioning system of governance.
