Payroll Team Manager * Closing Date for Applications - 19 June 2020 * BSC Band D * Permanent * Based at the Business Support Centre in Glasgow with regular travel to Heathrow We are looking for an exceptional Payroll Manager to join our Management Team at the Heathrow Shared Service Centre in Glasgow. This role joins at an exciting time, already a strong and well respected team, we have recently made a significant investment in re-shaping our support services along with the move to a new ERP system (Oracle Fusion) across the finance and hr landscape. Your role will be key in helping to realise and maximise the benefits from the change initiative and investment. You will be our overall lead for all payroll activity across the organisation, linking with stakeholders in our central Reward Team and the wider HR and Operational teams to build strong and meaningful relationships and to ensure we continue to deliver an accurate and compliant payroll. You will be responsible for ensuring that Heathrow maintains compliance with all appropriate pay and tax legislation, and importantly you will be a strong influencer, with a role that will help shape and inform wider activity that is pay impacting. We already have a strong payroll team that is highly respected and delivers top quartile outcomes for the business, and are looking for someone to continue to build and grow the individuals and the team further. As a member of the wider Shared Services Management Team we are looking for an energetic, motivated individual who has strong leadership skills to continue building out strong culture, engagement and environment that enables continuous improvement and service excellence through our people. The Heathrow Airport Shared Service Centre is located in Glasgow, and is our Centre of Excellence delivering finance and people support services to the UK's largest airport. Job Overview Overall * The creation and leadership of a high performing team that develops and empowers colleagues to achieve their potential and deliver the best outcomes for Heathrow * Developing strong and meaningful relationships with stakeholders that drive value through clear objectives, accurate data and continuous improvement * Creating and enabling a culture that delivers accountability, openness and improvement * Be a core member of the management team that informs and drives collective leadership of both the overall HR Shared Services Function and the Heathrow Shared Service Centre Role Specific * Is the overall lead for payroll across Heathrow Airport, accountable for all payroll and benefits administration ensuring that it is accurate and complies with appropriate UK legislation * Involved at both strategic and operational levels ensuring future initiatives, plans and activities that impact payroll are robustly planned to ensure accurate and timely delivery * Creation and leadership of a high performing team that develops and empowers colleagues to achieve their potential and deliver the best outcomes for Heathrow * Is the key point of contact for pay impacting initiatives, and responsible for developing appropriate plans and aligning resource to support delivery * Manage the relationship and service standards with the 3rd party provider that supports payroll running for two of the smaller Heathrow payrolls * Responsible for ensuring strong and meaningful relationships with stakeholders across multiple teams across Heathrow and the Shared Service Centre that drive value through clear objectives, accurate data and continuous improvement * Creating and enabling a culture that delivers accountability, openness and improvement * Be a core member of the management team that informs and drives collective leadership of both the HR Shared Service Function and the overall Heathrow Shared Service Centre Principal Accountabilities Operational * Overall accountability for managing the running of payroll ensuring high levels of accuracy and robust control frameworks in line with all relevant legislation * Is the subject matter expert for payroll legislation / regulations for Heathrow * Act as the ultimate point of escalation for resolution of complex payroll queries * Lead the annual pay award and bonus cycle ensuring that relevant stakeholders are aligned to deliver an accurate and timely outcome for Heathrow * Ensures regular events are completed in line with legislative requirements P11D, P60 etc * Approves and sign off payruns / payments via the necessary banking systems * Maintains and develops relationships with 3rd parties (pension
