Our Education Law team, which is based primarily in the Lancaster office, deals with a variety of calls, ranging from special educational needs tribunals, schools exclusions and admissions, local authority transport decisions, student cases and discrimination. What work will you be doing? * You will be taking first line of enquiry calls to the office, completing any necessary research, and progressing cases in an efficient manner * Providing prompt and accurate advice on various legal issues over the telephone and in writing * Where appropriate opening files to conduct case work including drafting reasons for appeal, submissions for tribunal and correspondence * Drafting tribunal and court documents, writing detailed letters of advice and correspondence to other parties in a case * Maintaining internal records in relation to calls and work undertaken What sort of person are we looking for? * Our paralegals need to have an excellent telephone manner, enthusiastic and empathetic personality * You will be educated to degree level but we do not expect applicants to have knowledge of education law as full training in this area will be given on joining. After training as well as working on the helpline you will also manage your own case load * You're going to be well-organised with great interpersonal skills and be happy communicating with all sorts of people from different walks of life, making sure that you provide the highest possible standard of client care and satisfaction * It's a great opportunity for someone who wants to start a career in the legal sector and gain valuable training and experience.
