Purpose of the Role To support Project Teams within the designated span of control in order to ensure that all access requirements for rail possessions in relation to project delivery are researched, established, planned and requested in a timely manner, within project budget, and in accordance with Company Procedures, Rules, Regulations and Safety Legislation Key Success Measures Safety Support the implementation of the Colas Rail Limited Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) strategy, associated actions and resulting initiatives, to deliver continuous improvement in all areas. Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability Responsible for creation SWP in accordance with 019 standards, ensuring all planning time fences (T - Dates) are achieved, including liaison with Project Teams. Attend project meetings as and when required. Represent the company in a professional and constructive manner. Compile list of access requests and arranged access. Confirm access with Project Responsible Managers. Apply for agreed Line Blockages and access. Prepare SWP Packs for all access & possessions. Compile records of access types worked per period. Compile records of 20% responsible manager checks and feedback to contractors. Manage Line Blockage Protection Staff Resources and paperwork. Attend all relevant internal and external progress meetings. Prepare trackers for distribution to project team. Attend safety briefs. As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements. Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time. Person Specification Technical Skills Extensive experience within rail planning. Flexibility to work on UK wide projects. Personal Track Safety (NR PTS). Extensive experience of access planning within the rail environment. Working knowledge of access planning software applications (principally PPS). Knowledge of operational railway and associated Safety Procedures. An understanding of project management. Understanding of project planning and project life cycle. A range of IT skills including MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience of using On:Track. Behavioral Skills Customer Focus. Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. Effective persuasive and negotiation skills. Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels. Must have a flexible attitude to work. Ability to analyse data and make suitable decisions. A team player. Understanding of the engineering requirements of work on the railway. Understanding of all rail disciplines and interface management. Ability with pressure and responsibility.
