An exciting opportunity has become available at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) to work as a Critical Care & Theatres Clinical Pharmacist, as part of a very experienced and highly regarded team of critical care pharmacists. This position is 20 hours a week part time and offered on a fixed term basis for 12 months. If you are looking to expand your experience in Critical Care, this could be your perfect chance! ABOUT THE TEAM Southampton Critical Care currently has over 50 adult ventilator dependent beds plus 50 high care beds and a further expansion is planned within the next six months. The ICU pharmacy team looks after a large variety of critical care and high care patients including general, surgical, neurological/neurosurgical and cardiac/cardiothoracic surgical patients. The Clinical Pharmacy team for Critical Care is led by a Consultant Pharmacist with a team of seven advanced level practitioners. The large clinical pharmacy team at UHS consists of over 80 pharmacists including 45 prescribers. We can offer a range of learning experiences in high dependency and intensive care and across a range of specialities. ICU pharmacists at UHS have an integral role in the clinical teams and active participation in consultant-led medical ward rounds. WHAT YOU'LL DO Providing clinical pharmacy support to critically ill patients. The position also includes * Review of metavision prescriptions * Attending consultant led ward rounds * Accessing JAC electronic prescriptions * Analysis drug usage data, guideline production and compiling drug file data WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR We are looking for a pharmacist with experience in this area or someone with transferable clinical skills who wants to expand their portfolio of practice. Ideally, you will be a qualified non-medical prescriber or have a willingness to learn about the role of pharmacist non-medical prescribers. You will be willing to be trained and developed in critical care to deliver advanced level practice. You should have a clinical diploma and experience of working in clinical pharmacy including both medicine and surgery, and ideally some experience of working in a High Care/Intensive Care environment.
