Amazon Europe Payments is looking for a Head of Europe Payment Business Operations, to manage a team of 20 people across 6 countries who will support critical payment operations, fraud and customer experience for Amazon's European Payments Team (Credit Products and Gift Cards). As Head of EU Payment Business Operations for the EU, you will lead a team of Operations Analysts, responsible for ensuring successful new product launches with the necessary logic, attributes, and reporting considerations to facilitate transactional matching as well as a great customer experience. You are a creative problem solver focused on proactively finding innovative, automated solutions to improve processes, procedures, and systems. You must be an effective communicator capable of tailoring your approach to influence all levels within the company. You should be detail oriented, and have experience managing teams that drive operational excellence. You have an innate curiosity and a desire to learn continuously. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver, who excels in building robust processes that scale. You will have experience using data to drive performance and influence change. You must enjoy and have a desire to mentor, coach, and develop employees. As a leader for this team, you must be capable of crafting a big-picture vision and garnering support from partner organizations and global teams, to bring it to fruition. Core Responsibilities Manage 20 Operations Analysts located across Europe, while interacting with Business Leads, Financial Operations, and Global Product/Platform to ensure effective deployments by teams in Europe Develop employees and grow their skill sets to expand the team capabilities and provide growth opportunities for future leaders. Lead, prioritize, and direct the team to ensure that findings causing financial or customer impact are identified and resolved in a timely manner, and are used as learnings for systematic change Identify and close operational gaps in new offerings and set operational requirements for new projects. Facilitate deployment of friction reduction tools, reporting improvements and automation in the EU, and create new innovative and insightful reports in a timely manner. Identify key business relationships and build a partnership for understanding challenges and opportunities. Lead cross-functional projects across multiple geographies working with senior business leaders on major initiatives. Dive deep in all areas of your team; this role is both strategic and hands-on Manage relationships with large or strategic partner(s) or payment program. A subject matter expert in one or more area. Focus on medium to large, cross-functional projects and programs that serve major parts of the business that complete on time. Support critical relationships and negotiations of agreement timelines with customers, or 3rd parties. Negotiate and bring closure to large, complex problems which expand to multiple departments across the company and may involve 3rd party partners. Anticipate, identify and drive to resolution key operational challenges and interdependencies to prevent downstream problems. Apply advanced knowledge of core technology and/or functional areas to coordinate program design and launch within schedule and budget constraints. Propose and initiate new projects that are directly connected to customer's biggest needs. Develop long-term department strategies and significantly influences the cross-company program development and delivery processes and standards. Operate with limited guidance from management and aggressively drive issues to resolution. Bring harmony to discordant views, helping convince stakeholders to follow the best way forward. Make optimal tradeoffs between schedule, resources, and scope, and applies advanced technical and business knowledge to address major risks, challenges, and obstacles. Rely heavily on influence - not authority - to drive engineering and business teams and resources toward project goals. Frequency, size and manner of escalation demonstrate good judgment and appropriate prioritization. Use advanced professional concepts, resolves complex issues in creative and effective ways. Operate with significant autonomy and discretion. Credibly lead large cross-functional teams to complete projects. Can skillfully recruit, motivate and focus people of all levels to deliver complex projects. Expert at matching team skills to assignments. Drive consensus by communicating with other team members efficiently, anticipating technical and product problems, and leveraging team knowledge to find solutions. Drive significant communication across departments, to front line and executive level managers. Establish support processes for the team. Present team goals, events, and metrics up to Director and VP level.
