The core purpose of the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service is to meet the transfusion needs of patients in Scotland. In support of this, we are committed to a range of programmes that will enhance the service provided to NHS Scotland in both clinical and operational areas. The role of the SNBTS Quality Directorate is to champion and deliver a unified Quality Management System, throughout the five regional Blood Transfusion Centres (BTCs) and the SNBTS Tissues, cells and advanced Therapeutics Directorate, which satisfies regulatory and accreditation requirements (MHRA, HTA, UKAS, etc), whilst ensuring a high quality, efficient transfusion process from "donor to patient". Members of this team require to be forward thinking and imaginative with the drive and self-motivation to relish a challenge. A position has now become available within the Quality team and applications are invited for the above post.The successful candidate will require to be forward thinking, resourceful and imaginative with the drive and self-motivation to relish and respond to challenge. They will also have an enthusiastic understanding of the benefits that an effective Quality Management System can deliver, and the communication skills to convince others. Applicants will be suitable qualified, HCPC registered with demonstrable experience in Transfusion Science. The Quality Manager role is within the Edinburgh Centre; this post offers QA support for SNBTS functions within Edinburgh Royal Infirmary (Blood Bank Laboratory, Histocompatiibility and Immunogenetics Laboratory, and the Clinical Apheresis unit), the Edinburgh Blood donor Centre- Lauriston Place and also supports Donor Services functions only within the Jack Copland Centre. The post holder will have a key role in ensuring that the SNBTS Quality Management System is implemented and in driving the SNBTS Quality improvement process within the Edinburgh centre, within an overarching national framework. The post holder will manage a local quality professional, will help lead elements of the national quality programme and will report directly to the Quality Manager for Patient and Donor Services. The post will be based at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, albeit frequent travel between all Edinburgh SNBTS sites will be required), and travel within Scotland will also be necessary. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency. Candidates must have current HCPC registration at the time of applying.
