Job Description

Main Duties The role is for an experienced Mechanical Technician to support a pharmaceutical manufacture site in Ware, Hertfordshire. We believe the position will migrate from our current normal working week to double day shifts Monday through Friday with a rota for on call out of hours cover. * Perform regular monitoring of the site BMS system and respond to issues * Undertake maintenance procedures, regular checks and routine inspections * Available for call out to respond to ensure effective response & resolution in accordance with the client SLA. * Support the development and communication of best working practice. * Ensure completion of routine tasks, e.g. Plant room Gemba's, use of correct LOTO procedures. * Troubleshoot areas of concern on site & offer effective solutions. * Completion of Planned Preventive Maintenance & Helpdesk tasks to ensure compliance with the Service Level Agreement. * Operational support of 3rd party specialists & contractors. * Assist and enhance service delivery through best practice and effective use of site systems and equipment * Respond to Building Management Systems (BMS) alarms * Deal with customers in a professional and courteous manner * Willing to work out of hours as directed by Technical Services Managers and Supervisor to ensure maintenance regime is completed. * Responsible for maintenance of records to ensure compliance with PSSR regulations * Any other reasonable request in support of contract and KPI/SLA delivery * Carry out high quality, professional inspections, ensuring Pressure and/or Steam systems and associated pipe work are compliant with current regulatory and statutory requirements. * Keep up-to-date with changes in relevant standards and legislation, acting as Advisor to clients * To plan and make appropriate arrangements for shut down maintenance and projects * To perform duties of a person authorised to issue permits to work. * Complete TOOLBOX Talk programme, site scenarios and Site H&S Inspections. * To ensure and promote good communication between all disciplines and ensure serious faults incidents reported back to Administration team. * Any other associated tasks that may be required from time to time. * To understand and complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time * To understand and comply with policies and procedures * To carry out work in a safe and diligent manner * To comply with all Health and Safety policies and procedures * To attend and fully participate in training and appraisal activities as required * To undertake additional duties in line with capabilities and role as required, this may include attendance out of normal hours. * Promote and co-ordinate FM best practice within the on-site team * Bring innovation, build solutions to business challenges and maintain a 'can-do' attitude * Be a champion of best practice and ensure this is shared with all on site personnel * Demonstrate a commitment to and to work within the MITIE Core Values * To understand and complete all work related documentation accurately and on time * To attend and fully participate in training and appraisal activities as required * To undertake additional duties in line with capabilities as required. * A customer focused approach, exhibiting a reliable and responsible attitude * BOAS trained * City & Guilds boiler qualification / BOAS CERTIBO / DIPBOM or equivalent experience working with Steam * Minimum or equivalent in an engineering discipline (or EITB/C&G J modules). * Water Treatment Plant Experience. * Experience working on Spirax Sarco steam boiler level controls, pressure reducing valves and plate heat exchangers would be advantageous. * The ideal candidate will have a good engineering background, decent knowledge of screw and vane air-compressors, with both mechanical and electrical experience. * Experience maintaining and repairing all types of Pressure / Steam systems including Boilers, Turbines, Heat Exchangers, Condensers, Air Receivers etc * Working knowledge of HVAC systems * Ability to work in team and independently * Excellent communication and good time management skills * Reliable and responsible attitude. * Confident and flexible manner. * Available for scheduled & unplanned weekend working * Contributes effectively working within a team environment. * Proven to ability to prioritize * Able to multi-task * Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills * Be a key team player and have a can-do attitude. * Understands and operated Permit to work system of working. * Able to complete & produce RAMs * Ability to plan\schedule both PPM & Reactive work load. * Computer literate - competent in Microsoft Office and ability to work on CAFM systems. * Knowledge of working on BMS systems.
