Job Description
The Clinical Haematology Department at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust welcome applications for a one year position as a Clinical Teaching Fellow in haematology. The successful applicant would be expected to help deliver the SPR training curriculum on the Hammersmith site and also to expand the current range of haematology simulation scenarios used within the department to assist training. They will also explore ways of improving training on-site using education research methods. During the course of this post the successful candidate would be expected to develop an education portfolio, develop skills in education research techniques and be expected to formally evaluate their teaching/education research initiatives with a view to presenting them at National/International meetings. The post holder would also be encouraged to undertake formal teaching qualifications. The successful candidate will also undertake clinical duties for the NHS Trust, joining our clinical trainees in providing 3 on-call shifts overnight each month at SpR level in haematology. Experience equivalent to or higher than, ST4 level in haematology will be essential to provide this commitment. Furthermore, applicants must have successfully completed the part I FRCPath exam or equivalent and demonstrated a clear commitment to teaching and training. The Clinical Haematology Unit at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust comprises a large practice covering the whole range of blood diseases, including malignancies, stem cell transplantation, haemoglobinopathies, laboratory haematology and transfusion medicine and haemostasis-thrombosis. There are 58 inpatient beds over three wards, and a dedicated haematology triage unit to accept emergencies out-of-hours. The successful candidate will be based at the Hammersmith Campus, located in East Acton.
