Operational Property Surveyor

Your new company The teams working from the Diocesan Office provide a range of services to support the mission and ministry of the clergy, parishes, churches and schools that make up the Church of England across North and East Yorkshire, including Hull, York and Middlesbrough, two National Parks and the Yorkshire Coast. With around 60 staff, of all faiths and none, they care for their buildings with their Property team. They have a portfolio which comprises around 3,000 acres of land, and just under 300 residential houses to maintain and manage, whilst increasing value and efficiency of the estate. Your new role As a building surveyor in the role of Operational Property Surveyor, you will take responsibility for planned maintenance, condition surveying, specification of works and contract management. You will bring your technical expertise to domestic property management by delivering schemes of improvements, identify, specify and manage maintenance, and procure, authorize and cost manage budgets for works. You will project manage, monitoring contractors and undertake contract administration, ensuring works are completed effectively and in a timely manner. You will also have input in the strategic decisions which inform acquisition and disposal or investment in property. This is a real opportunity to work across the range of usual surveying responsibilities, in a varied and interesting job. What you'll need to succeed You will be educated to degree or equivalent level in Building Surveying or Construction Management or similar. You will have experience with property surveying and residential housing, as well as a good understanding of health and safety, relevant legislation and a flexible, can-do attitude. If you are MRICS status, AssocRICS, or MCIOB then that would be a great benefit, but is not essential if you can demonstrate relevant experience. A driving licence will be required for the role, and a DBS will be undertaken.
