Job Description

Support Engineer Would you like to be part of the front-line support team that maintains our operational submarines? We currently have a vacancy for a Support Engineer based in New Malden. As a Support Engineer you will be providing front line support to the operational submarines by identifying operational defects through routine checks to help maintain the hardware on board across the 3 classes - Vanguard, Astute and Trafalgar. You will also be undertaking a defined range of system support activities on board subsurface vessels in line with all relevant processes and quality requirements under the direction of the Systems Engineering team leader. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an integrated working environment as you will be exposed to the full range of engineering disciplines and support functions whilst also travelling to our main submarines sites in Ash Vale, Barrow in Furness, Plymouth and Faslane Your main responsibilities as Support Engineer will involve: Organising and carrying out visits to operational and training platforms for regular health checks and defect rectification. Conducting Submarine Command System (SMCS) Project Equipment Installations, Set-to-Work and Modification Activities Supporting liaison with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on engineering matters Being the face of the project to the end user Your skills and qualifications: Essential Ability to operate in a large, complex multi-project environment Hardware repair knowledge, identifying and repairing COTS and bespoke hardware running Windows and Solaris. Defect identification and rectification of hardware items Configuration Management and asset tracking Minimum 2 Years' experience in engineering or a defence or related industry Willing to travel to support tasks in UK and abroad
