Overview This is Business As Usual (BAU) desktop engineering role, The skillset and requirements presented listed below are at a team level - it is expected successful candidates will have a subset of these skills, at varying levels, and over time will develop new skills to be able to provide greater level of coverage to meet the listed requirements. Responsibilities The Desktop, Mobility and Print team within End User Computing focuses on Core Desktop, Remote Desktop and Software Development & Testing Services. Stable and secure desktop platforms are the foundations to enable users to perform their roles in today's challenging environment. Users require access to desktops, both locally and remotely, along with predictable and scalable deployment tools for delivering applications to these platforms. The Desktop Engineering team engineer and maintain Windows desktop builds for all physical and virtual platforms. This function defines global hardware standards for desktop devices as well as OS configuration and patching. Bell is looking for multiple engineers with the core skills to provide full coverage of the combined skillsets listed below Qualifications Experience of Windows GPO configuration for Win 7 & Win 10 Ability to design, create, deploy and troubleshoot core Windows technologies such as Group Policy, roaming profiles, offline files and folder redirection Practical working experience of major OS migrations Competency in admin scripting e.g. PowerShell, VBScript and Batch files Microsoft SCCM for patching and OS deployment Infrastructure knowledge e.g. AD, DFS, DNS, WAN, SAN and DHCP Experience with defining end user hardware products Ability to create documentation and communicate to people at different technical levels Knowledge of Wi-Fi certifications Experience in packaging, testing and deployment of Microsoft updates Knowledge of Avecto Defendpoint policies Experience in Win 7 & Win 10 RDH design and deployment Experience in packaging, testing and deployment of Microsoft updates Experience in security patching Experience in MBAM server upgrade & maintenance Experience of secure data erasure testing & documentation Experience in Vendor Management Practical working experience of hardware OSD Competency in admin scripting e.g. PowerShell, VBScript and Batch files Experience in evaluating security weaknesses and vulnerabilities Experience in application and OS patching Ability to design, create, deploy and troubleshoot core Windows technologies such as Group Policy, roaming profiles, offline files and folder redirection. Understanding of Windows OS architecture High awareness of the importance of security compliance and audit and compliance controls Working knowledge of Evergreen Experience and ability to chair meetings Excellent analytical skills Ability to act as L3 for production issues Ability to work with global peers to ensure cross-team knowledge transfer Ability to create documentation and communicate to people at different technical levels Desktop and end user support in a high pressure, high value environment Desktop engineering experience Stakeholder management Experience of group policy updates for Win7 & Win10 platforms Familiarity with application deployment and packaging Ability to act as L3 for production issues Tertiary education (college, degree, professional training) MCSE 2000 or above Security certification (e.g. ISC2) useful Security vendor certification useful Ability to design, create, deploy and troubleshoot windows physical client builds and virtualised platform templates in an enterprise environment Excellent analytical skills Ability to create documentation and communicate to people at different technical levels Minimum of 3 years of desktop engineer level experience Financial Sector experience Working within a technical team in a global enterprise environment Ability to clearly articulate in both technical and clear detail with a variety of teams An eye for detail and ability to track minutia Self-motivated and ability to prioritise tasks, projects and follow accepted process and procedure Ability to work under pressure High sense of integrity, responsibility and accountability Experience in a large, complex, globally distributed work environment High awareness of the criticality of stability and availability of production desktop systems Knowledge of corporate integration of Microsoft Windows products Ability to clearly articulate findings in technical detail Stringent attention to detail with no margin for error
