Job Description

The successful applicant will work within an integrated mental health and substance misuse team, based within HMP Hindley in Wigan. We are a resettlement prison, catering for category C male offenders. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the post holder is responsible for managing a caseload of service users/patients within HMP Hindley. The post holder is required to work with service users from a holistic perspective, taking into account both substance misuse and mental health needs. We work collaboratively with a range of different professionals/ agencies, including physical health care, probation, prison officers and psychosocial substance misuse services. The role is varied and interesting and the ideal candidate would be resilient, enthusiastic and have excellent time management skills. This post is suitable for experienced or newly qualified mental health nurses. The role involves working across 7 days per week and some shift working- currently this is a variety of 7.30- 4pm, 8.30- 5pm and 11.30-7pm weekday shifts. Weekends, on a rota basis, cover either 9-1pm or 9-5.30pm.
