Band 6 Annex 21 A vacancy has arisen for a senior staff nurse within the Night Nursing Service. This is an exciting opportunity to help lead, shape and develop community nursing out of hours while supporting a team of registered and unregistered nurses. This is an area wide service covering NHS Forth Valley and is currently based within the OOH's department at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. This is a community nursing post which will include evenings and an occasional overnight shift to meet the needs of the service, it is essential that the post holder be flexible. It would be beneficial if the post holder had experience of staff rostering as this will be part of the responsibility. To apply for this post it is essential that you have experience of nursing in a community setting and leading a team. Essential Clinical skills required are a nurse prescribing qualification (V300) and a clinical examination course for caring for an acutely unwell adult (ACE). Candidates will be considered who are working towards attainment of these qualifications. The conditions of this post require successful completion of the ACE and V300 qualifications within an agreed timescale. Candidates will be paid at Band 6 (Annex 21) until successful completion of the course. Failure to complete the course within the agreed timescale will mean the post holder will be subject to redeployment as a band 5 staff nurse within the Forth Valley area. Evidence of experience and involvement in service development or quality improvement is desirable. It is also essential that you have clinical skills in the areas of wound management, catheter care and palliative care including end of life care. It would also be an advantage to have undertaken any leadership and development training since qualifying. NHS Forth Valley is supportive of lifelong learning and training will also be provided during induction to a successful applicant. It is also essential that you are a good communicator and show that you work well within a team and are also able to function autonomously using your skills and initiative. The night nursing service are proactively involved in new ways of working so it would be an advantage to be motivated and adaptable to change and to have completed further training in communication skills. Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
