Job Description

Big Data QA Engineer Location: London Salary: Competitive Hours: 37.5 Join Vodafone UK Big Data and work with sophisticated technologies, turning unstructured data into something pragmatic, to solve real-world problems. What will you be doing? As a QA Engineer you will ensure the quality of the code and solution delivered by the Big Data Team, by reviewing the code produced by Data Engineering to load data from source systems onto the shared platform, as well as the Big Data applications. Define, build, automate and execute testing for the solution. You will Ensure that Big Data team produce high performing and stable applications, which perform complex processing of massive volumes of data in a Cloud based analytics platform. Guarantee the quality of end-to-end applications (through review and testing) that make use of large volumes of source data from the operational systems and output insights back to business systems. Proactively work with the rest of the squad to ensure the right quality checks are in place at the various stages of the Data Integration and support and contribute, with the rest of the Big Data team, to define best practice for the agile development of applications to run on the Big Data Platform. Who are we looking for? We are looking someone who has * Experience working with Linux / Unix * Scripting experience with Python ideally, but Pearl could be considered * A knowledge and interest of Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, HDFS and Hive * Experience of Model testing, * Experience in designing, building and managing applications to process large amounts of data in a Hadoop ecosystem; What's in it for you?
