HMP Winchester is a category B men's prison for those on remand to local courts. With an operational capacity of 690, HMP Winchester is based in Winchester, Hampshire; by car it's approximately 20 minutes from Eastleigh, 25 minutes from Southampton, 30 minutes of Andover, Basingstoke and Newbury and 45 minutes from Salisbury. On foot, it's a 20 minute walk from Winchester town centre and 15 minutes' walk from Winchester train station. Care UK were recently awarded the healthcare contract at HMP Winchester and will begin delivering services on 1st July 2020; we are the Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach - an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person's care. To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP Winchester, we're looking for a Clinical Pharmacist to support us and the existing team in this new venture. In return for your hard work you will... Receive an annual salary of up to 50,000 FTE - dependent on experience. You will be a qualified Registered Pharmacist - BSc or Master's Degree in Pharmacy, holding registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). You will have a real passion for developing your own Pharmaceutical skills and those of your team. You'll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourages new ideas. If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you! You'll be responsible for the provision and delivery of an integrated, safe, legal, high quality prison pharmaceutical service. Working closely with the Head of Healthcare and the multidisciplinary team, you'll be responsible for ensuring that the provision of service meets the contractual obligations. The role also involves responsibility for providing daily expert advice on pharmaceutical matters and ensuring that a safe but modern medicines management service is provided to prisoners. You will be responsible for leading a team of Pharmacy technicians and be required to deliver some wing based clinics.
