Job Description An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-employed, child psychologist to work in the private sector to provide psychological assessment and treatment to children, and support for their families and carers. Presenting issues will include behavioural and learning difficulties, and ASD. Harley Therapy's vision and focus is on facilitating therapeutic practice. Harley Therapy achieves this by focusing on marketing/advertising, generating new referrals, providing administration support for new and existing clients and securing therapy rooms in desirable locations to enable you to do what you are best at - offering psychological therapy. As a consultant therapist, you are solely responsible for your practice and management of your caseload and as a qualified and competent practitioner you control and operate your practice in the best interests of your clients. You remain accountable for your clients; you must be an up-to-date member of an appropriate professional body and practising within their guidelines and codes; in receipt of regular supervision as required by that body, and appropriately insured. Qualifications Clients who contact Harley Therapy typically benefit from seeing and referring to practitioners with the following therapeutic and clinical skills: * You are a fully qualified and registered with the HCPC or BPS. * You have at least 5 years of clinical work offering psychological assessment and therapy to children and ideally providing support to their families/carers, including within the NHS. * You have experience of working with a wide range of clinical presenting difficulties of varying severity. * You are competent in assessing and treating severe psychological disorders. * You are able to engage with children who present with anger issues, sexual abuse issues, eating disorders and additive/impulsive behaviours, emotional, interpersonal and behavioural difficulties. * You have experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for psychological care and treatment. * You are able to liaise comprehensively with external agencies including schools and local authorities. * You can formulate plans for psychological treatment and/or management of a client's presenting difficulties. Your formulations are grounded in theoretical and therapeutic models. You have the ability to reformulate and modify treatment options through continual engagement and assessment. * You are able to set out and hold boundaries with clients including adhering to regular weekly sessions and a cancellation policy. * You should see the clinical importance and value of being loyal, hard working and committed to clients and to your professional development. * Although you have full autonomy of your clinical practice, you will work in a manner that presents both you and the group professionally at all times, and preserves Harley Therapy's reputation.
