Job Description

The Estates Department is looking for a Mechanical Technician with a background preferably gained in a building services or healthcare environment to join the Maintenance Team. The work is diverse and includes the maintenance of complex plant associated with a large hospital, including commercial & domestic heating, water systems, ventilation and steam plant. Where required additional training will be given to the successful applicant to enable them to fully meet the person specification. The vacancy will be based at our Winchester Hospital site, however the role can include work on any of the Trust sites. The applicant will form part of the mechanical on-call team for which there is an additional stand-by allowance payment of circa 2,000 - 2,500 per annum when undertaking a 1 week in 5 week availability. The successful applicant will require good communication skills. An empathetic approach to staff and patients, be adaptable, willing to learn new skills and be able to work independently as well as part of the team. The applicant must have the physical ability and agility to carry out manual handling. Must have a current full UK driving license.
