Job Description

We have exciting opportunities for band 6 Speech & Language Therapists (SLT) who are dysphagia trained to join our team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). The SLT service is able to provide daily treatment for patients with both communication & swallowing difficulties, supporting the active rehabilitative culture and ethos of the unit. As the adult acute ward SLT you would be part of a busy pool of speech therapists offering a prioritised and responsive service to cover to our wide range of acute wards & regional specialist units. Our team consists of clinical leads and specialists who foster and support staff across a wide range of clinical areas, helping to provide excellent learning opportunities. We provide a tertiary centre, providing highly specialised treatment for patients with complex needs as well as undertaking instrumental assessments as part of the management of dysphagia. WHAT YOU'LL DO The successful candidates would be required to: Work closely with MDT colleagues in the planning & goal setting for individual patients Design and implement swallow rehabilitation programmes To contribute to capacity assessments and decisions Deliver regular individual and group therapy sessions Measure clinical outcomes Support colleagues as well as students for Reading University placements Contribute to audits and specific projects WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Individuals who: Are passionate, have experience in the assessment & management of acute patients with communication and swallowing difficulties Are keen to have exposure and learn about the specialist services we provide WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU As one of the largest acute teaching Trust's in England, we can offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to.
