Hardware Test Engineer

Job Description
A privately owned electronics business who specialise in control and monitoring devices for the subsea sector require a Hardware Test Engineer to join the R&D team. Your role will be to carry out product testing of manufactured products. This will mainly be end of line manufactured products, but there could be the need to investigate some returned products on occassions. For this role you should understand Analogue/ Digital electronic products from system to component level. You should demonstrate experience testing products that consists of electronics and embedded software. If you have mechanical / electromechanical knowledge this would be highly desirable. Although there will be some manual testing tasks, the aim of the business is to automate as much of the testing as possible. As such if you have test automation experience for hardware products this would be highly beneficial. There is the opportunity to create test rigs and write the software to drive the test rig if you have the experience to do so. The business is open to using National Instrument LabVIEW/ Teststand, but is also open to other test scripting languages such as Python. As well as performing testing tasks, it would be highly desirable if you have experience doing fault investigation and root cause analysis. In this role you will work closely with the Electronic, Embedded Software and Mechanical Engineers, whilst also working with the Manufacturing department. With the client having an extensive range of devices, which are constantly being upgraded with new enhancements and features, this role will provide plenty of enjoyment, challenge and the ability to learn. SKILLS REQUIRED: * Experience testing Hardware products (that has electronics and embedded firmware) * Manual and Test Automation experience * Understand electronics from system to component level * Documentation and report writing ability DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE: * Test Automation experience e.g. building a test rig and writing the test scripts to drive the test rig * Some knowledge of mechanical issues on electronic products * Fault finding and root cause analysis To discuss this role in further detail please contact Andrew Knight or Chris Oddy at KO2 Embedded Recruitment Solutions Ltd.
