Job Description

Job Title - Lead Developer Location - Radbroke Hall, Knutsford It's an exciting time at Barclays. As part of this commitment, we are engaging in engineering activities and delivery of voice and omni-channel capabilities for customers and colleagues. As the Lead Developer, you will be working on our innovative Contact Centre applications at the forefront of our contact with our customers, and the extensive features we support. Our tech stack includes core Java, Spring Framework, REST services, JSON, Oracle, MongoDB, OpenShift, Docker, Jboss, Gradle and Jenkins. What will you be doing? * You will be leading a team of Java Developers * You will be working closely with Product Owners to understand business and customer problems and how our applications can help solve them * You will be helping drive evolving designs * You will be developing solutions using TDD, A-TDD and CI priciples, along with Agile techniques, and drive continually better feedback cycles * You will be help plan work effectively and realistically, and to sensibly manage risks and issues * You will be helping see releases through to live and track the success of changes * You will be ensuring our solutions are extensible, maintainable, testable, scalable, manageable and performant What we're looking for: * Strong coding skills. Core Java is our primary language, but we are interested in great developers regardless of their languages used * You will have previous coding experience * You will be able to create 'clean' code * You will have knowledge and some skill with techniques of test driven/test-first development, continuous integration, refactoring and producing great documentation Skills that will help you in the role: * Design skills * Experience of at least some of the following: Java, REST services/APIs, JSON, XML, SQL databases, MongoDB and other NoSQL databases, IVRs, Spring Framework, Jenkins or other * Contact centre/telephony applications experience Where will you be working? You will be based in Radbroke Hall, our technology hub for the UK; where the best come to work on the forefront of FinTech.
