Job Description

As the Financial Services Communications Manager, you will be responsible for day-to-day management of external communications for Sainsbury's Bank and Argos Financial Services (AFS). As this is a new role in a new team, you will be integral to setting up ways of working for Financial Services external communications. You'll both build strong relationships with key stakeholders in Sainsbury's Bank and AFS, and work closely with the wider Sainsbury's Communications teams, to deliver external communication that is aligned to the business strategy and seven strategic priorities, laddering up to the company purpose of Live Well for Less. What you need to do * Support the Senior Financial Services Communications Manager in creating and delivering a communications plan aligned to the wider Sainsbury's communications strategy, which supports the ongoing growth of our financial services business, focused on key commercial priorities * You will work closely with the wider communications team to ensure Financial Services communications are joined up with wider communications activity and that all messaging aligns (this may involve regular travel to London) * Work collaboratively so that Consumer, Brand and Digital strategies are well aligned * Work with the wider Sainsbury's Communications team to build a PR programme that builds and protects the reputation of Sainsbury's Bank, aligned against its clear business strategy * Support in the creation and delivery of appropriate reputation management strategies and tactics to best communicate with Sainsbury's Bank's target audiences * Act as content owner for campaigns across Sainsbury's Bank and AFS and helping to deliver those working closely with the corporate comms team * Work with the Sainsbury's press office team: alerting them to issues, providing support in responding to media enquiries, assisting with reviews and approvals and on occasion picking up an enquiries directly * Act as a duty press officer, which involves being part of a 24/7 on-call rota covering evenings and weekends as part of the Sainsbury's press office function * Identify, research and propose new ways for the business to meet its objectives in terms of driving awareness and consideration * Work with and without PR agency support * Draft and seek approval for relevant PR materials * Manage the PR evaluation and effectiveness including the Bank's KRIs * Drive the agency in the delivery of consumer and brand projects that will deliver the cut through required to achieve our customer reach and quality coverage targets * Ensure all activity is coordinated to meet the needs of the business, including supporting with budgeting and forecasting * Alongside the Internal Comms manager, support the co-ordination of a combined communications calendar for all activity including CEO and SME programme * Ensure the media centre, and corporate information on the Sainsbury's Bank website is up to date and that tracking tools etc. are well managed What you need to know and show * Collaborative approach, working as one team with the wider internal and external communications team * Highly organised and proactive - able to juggle and prioritise a busy agenda * Creative approach and a strong story teller * Strong commercial awareness, with a nose for great external comms stories which support our business objectives and strategy * Ability to build strong relationships within the communications team and with the wider business * Ability to handle large amounts of information and distil this into compelling and easy to understand messages * Proven track record in reputation management * Proven track record of working across multiple campaigns and issues * Ability to work with and without agency support * Excellent written and verbal communications skills * An understanding of the wider business strategy and how financial services communications can support it * Strong attention to detail * Strong analytical skills * Excellent team and project management skills * Strong commercial awareness * Good knowledge and understanding of financial services and consumer-facing businesses In return you'll get * Colleague discount across the multi-brands - Sainsbury's, Argos and Habitat * Holiday allowance * Bonus scheme * Pension plan * Access to relevant training, qualifications, and personal development tools * Special offers on gym memberships, restaurants, holidays, retail vouchers and more Flexible working and job share conversations are encouraged.
