Your new role In this exciting new role as a Change & Configuration Engineer you will supports the management of engineering change and manages the software and traceable component structure of the fleets. You'll ensure all changes are managed in accordance to the business process, defining and managing the software baseline standard and defining the traceable component structure for Hitachi's UK service fleets. Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables: Change Management * Ensure engineering change is recorded and controlled in accordance with the Hitachi change management procedure * Analyse submitted changes for completeness to support the Change Requestor for submission to the relevant approvers. * Prioritise change requests in cooperation with business needs with regards to urgency at the time of submission. * Responsible for change tracking via the change register and status reporting. Recording appropriately comments/justifications for change throughout each stage through to closure. * Ensure that all arising modifications are approved by appropriate authorities and customer. Configuration Management * Maintains and amends the software configuration baseline standard for each fleet * Defines the unit traceable component structure (asset tree), identifying components and those assemblies and sub-assemblies to be tracked by serial number for all HRE fleets * Identify all necessary information to be recorded against components within the asset tree * Ensure identified assemblies and sub-assemblies are set up correctly to record miles/hours/days run to support reliability centred maintenance (RCM), as defined by the Maintenance Optimisation team. * Ensure component and sub component exchanges, overhauls and operational information are captured and recorded sufficiently through use of KPIs and audits of the fleet. * Liaise with European and Japanese factories, as well as other sources to obtain all necessary information from the Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBoM) during build phase of the units * Ensure effective configuration tracking of product and project by raising SAP notifications for approved changes; update and track implementation on progress in Configuration Tracker. About you Essential Requirements * High standards with a critical eye for the detail and need for quality * The ability to work with minimal supervision, setting clear targets and deliverables toensure the achievement of department goals * Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers * A completer-finisher with a drive to deliver * A collaborative style and with a strong team-working ethic Desirable Requirements * Previous experience in the rail industry ideally in rolling stock * Experience of managing configuration of a large fleet(s) of assets * Experience managing engineering change * Advanced Microsoft Excel skills * Previous experience with Business Management Tools such as SAP, Sharepoint & PLM systems (PTC Windchill highly desirable) * Experience of dealing across country boundaries and cultures Qualifications * A minimum of HND or higher in an engineering discipline Why Hitachi Rail?
