Job Description
HAND THERAPIST - Band 6 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist Want to expand your horizons within a hand therapy out-patient setting? Then Peterborough and Stamford Hospital is the place to be! An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term full time (37.5 hours) band 6 Occupational Therapist / Physiotherapist to provide maternity cover within our innovative and friendly Hand Therapy team. You should be forward thinking; dynamic; enthusiastic about hand therapy and have the desire to develop and improve yourself and the service further. You must have: * Previous experience of working within the hand therapy speciality, treating orthopaedic trauma / elective conditions, plastic surgery and rheumatology conditions. * Evidence of training in splinting and rehabilitation aspects of hand therapy. * Experience of supervising others. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your clinical, teaching and managerial skills and be actively involved in service development. BAHT level II qualifications would be an advantage. Predominantly covering orthopaedic based conditions the team also treat rheumatology, plastics, and basic neurology splinting. This post offers the opportunity to combine a clinical role with some daily management of staff within the out-patient team. The out - patient hand therapy team consists of four Band 7's: Two Team Leaders and two Clinical Specialist OTs; three band 6's and a technician. The team is responsible for providing a quality service to a busy out-patient department consisting of referrals from: local GP practices, orthopaedic consultants and the Addenbrookes based plastics consultants. There are 15 consultants based within the Trust of whom 4 are specialist hand surgeons, and two rheumatology consultants. The team provides hand therapy support to the 6 consultant fracture and elective hand clinics run weekly. This provides an excellent opportunity for team work and patient collaboration.
