Site Maintenance Engineering Manager

Simpsons Malt Limited ,
Norwich, Norfolk

Overview

Job Description

Are you working in Engineering management but frustrated at the constraints and structure around you not giving the space to develop the engineering team around you and really add value / change the business. This role at Simpsons Malt will be a key player in developing a 21st Century engineering function on site that really partners with production to ensure the internal and external customers are properly supported. Simpsons Malt Limited is a highly successful family business that works within agriculture as a grain merchant, but also has well invested manufacturing operations in Norfolk and on the Scottish Border to supply speciality malts to customers in brewing and distilling. Our customer base stretches around the world, with export a rapidly rising feature and can range from the small craft micro brewer through to blue chip multi national distillers. Within manufacturing there is the move towards excellence and the use of "lean" tools such as 5S that you would expect. You would be based at our Tivetshall Maltings near Diss, which very much focuses on the supply of malt to the brewing industry. This role will report to the Site Director and lead a team of around a dozen, on a journey involving a change in approach, processes, deliverables and metrics so as to be focused less on breakdown recovery and more around becoming "reliability centred". The team size has grown rapidly over recent years and so ability is high, but site experience is less so and so coaching and development of the team is important. The site has received significant investment in recent years to grow capacity and while investment will continue the focus of this role will require someone who can demonstrate a track record of success in the organisation and development of a maintenance team to avoid breakdowns rather than someone who seeks hero status by repairing a conveyor with only a pencil and a rubber band. While very experienced and knowledgeable in a manufacturing engineering world, you will work through, motivate and improve the performance of others. You will be data-driven and understand what excellence means for maintenance delivery in today's manufacturing world. We are looking to hire a "Manager" and not just a Technician! Benefits: * Bonus scheme * Life insurance * Private medical/dental insurance Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Responsibilities: Are you working in Engineering management but frustrated at the constraints and structure around you not giving the space to develop the engineering team around you and really add value/change the business.
