Project overview: Thermo Fisher Basingstoke has secured significant investment to construct a new general manufacturing facility. Over the next 2 years, we will deliver a highly automated, SCADA controlled, food grade facility which will create a step change in manufacturing excellence and enable the division to meet future growth targets. How you will make an impact? Reporting directly to the Programme Manager, the role holder is required to interface with all levels of staff, in particular the operations, engineering and facilities functions as required. The role holder will work alongside the project team to develop best working practices and technical standards within electrical engineering, automation controls and instrumentation. In particular, the role holder is required: * To be the site technical expert on all matters relating to electrical standards and control systems, providing advice and guidance as well as hands on technical assistance as required. * To hold specific responsibilities for the design, specification and purchasing of electrical equipment ensuring site technology remains up to date. * To compile detailed electrical specifications for plant, utilities and facilities as required. Responsibilities: * To be the Site Electrical Duty Holder. * To lead the site's electrical standards ensuring compliance with all Statutory Electrical Legislation, Company standards, specifications and ECOPS. * To be the Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Lead for projects including design standards, installation, modification, upgrade, commissioning and development as directed. * To lead the control of contractors to ensure EHS standards are adhered to while carrying out their duties by acting as a champion for electrical safety on site. * To provide expert electrical, controls and instrumentation guidance/assistance in the fault diagnosis and breakdown repairs of plant and site services as requested. * To continually upgrade and maintain the sites PLC systems and documentation. * To carry out regular audits of the engineering team and site to ensure the appropriate electrical standards, specifications and ECOPS are complied with. The preparation, administration and upkeep of electrical schematics and drawings of plant, equipment and distribution systems. * To have a detailed knowledge of plant electrical systems, site electrical supply and distribution systems. * Ensure that HV & LV switch gear is maintained via the relevant service agreements. Minimum Requirements: Qualification: * Electrical Engineering Degree preferred or Qualified By Experience * Time served apprenticeship with formal qualification certificates (optional) Skills/Experience: * Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Engineering with a relevant projects experience * Practical experience gained within major projects (Design & Construction) in both 24 Volts Controls and Instrumentation and 400 Volts Electrical Scope. * Ability to manage projects to time, cost and quality deliverables. * Detailed knowledge of Electrical Legislation, Regulations, Statutory procedures and practical applications. * Detailed knowledge of electrical Permit to Work and Isolation procedures. * PLC/SCADA experience, ideally to programming level gained preferably on Siemens S7 or PCS7, Profinet, Profibus * Ability to solve problems using a logical thought process and implement solutions to prevent reoccurrence. * Ability to work consistently to high standards and prioritize tasks according to workload. * Communication with internal and external functions.
