Job Description
Production Operative Unipart Dorman is a leading UK manufacturer of LED solutions for rail and traffic signalling and hazard warning lights and its name is recognised globally for quality and innovation. Main Purpose We are looking for Production Operatives to work within our modern manufacturing production facility as part of the Operations team on a busy assembly line soldering and assembling small components to meet customer requirements. Main Responsibilities: * Solder (using hand held solder irons) and assemble small component parts and PCB boards to high quality standards. * Produce light mechanical and electrical assembly of completed PCB's into finished products with the addition of some wiring and cable making. * Completion of detailed manufacturing assembly tasks, requiring a high degree of manual dexterity and attention to detail. * Read and understand production documentation including bills of material, basic assembly drawings and process instructions. * Participate in daily comm. cell meetings and work within a small team to achieve manufacturing targets (cost, quality and delivery). * Embrace Unipart Way lean tools and techniques to support with day to day operations and monitoring of KPI's * Work in a safe manner, taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other people at work, following appropriate Health and Safety guidance, training and company rules and procedures as appropriate. * Report any accidents, hazards or dangerous / unsafe behaviour to your line manager immediately. Essential criteria: Previous experience in electrical assembly within Manufacturing/Production environment, preferably in a safety critical industry. Technical knowledge / appreciation of Manufacturing processes /products. Experience in PCB assembly with excellent soldering skills or mechanical fitting skills. Excellent attention to detail (work requires precision with hand / eye co-ordination) and high degree of manual dexterity. Desirable criteria: Knowledge of surface mount assembly techniques would be an advantage but not essential. Qualified to IPC soldering and inspection standards would be highly desirable.
